Consultant Psychiatrist 6PAs

The Trust is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist for Kingston Hospital Liaison Psychiatry. This is an established post. The vacancy has arisen as a result of the current post holder reducing their hours.

This post is for 6 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic Consultant psychiatrist to join an effective, friendly, and rewarding service.

The Locum Consultant Psychiatrist will work with the other Liaison Consultant to provide senior cover to the Hospital wards and the Accident and Emergency Department, while working within and jointly supervising the Liaison Team. During daytime hours, the team sees patients over 18 years old in all wards and departments, including the Emergency Department and Clinical Decisions Unit.

1. Medical leadership: Working in the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating closely with other Consultant Psychiatrists and occasionally their Associate Clinical Director within their service line.
2. Overall clinical responsibility: For day-to-day care, risk assessment, risk management, medication initiation, and recovery-focused care.
3. Availability: During normal working hours, 5 days a week, for urgent reviews, management, and formal Mental Health Act assessments.
4. Cross-cover duties: Providing support for colleagues as necessary.
5. Management of complex cases: Including resource allocation in collaboration with the team manager.
6. Quality and safety: Ensuring delivery of effective, efficient, and safe mental health care focused on recovery.
7. Multi-agency working: Collaborating with social care, statutory, voluntary, and third-sector partners.
