Client Name: Barts Health NHS Trust

Role: Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Rates: £90 - £110 per hour (PAYE)

Shifts: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday

Location: Whipps Cross Hospital

  • Weekly Payroll, usually each Friday

As a locum consultant, you will utilize your skills in acute respiratory and general medicine to support patient demand, especially for complex cases involving multiple symptoms and conditions.

You will work flexible shifts at Barts Health NHS Trust, providing expertise in diagnostic reasoning and managing acute COPD exacerbations, while supporting junior doctors and trainees.

In this role, you will contribute to developing and expanding services within admissions, outpatient, and intensive care settings, working alongside a team of dedicated consultants.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support patients and families, explaining diagnoses and treatment options clearly
  • Coordinate and prescribe treatment plans
  • Monitor and care for patients continuously
  • Communicate with the multidisciplinary team for shared decision-making
  • Lead or work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Assess, prioritize, and delegate patient requirements
  • Recognize and report patient condition changes
  • Maintain records, write prescriptions, and manage treatment documentation
  • Participate in research to improve procedures and outcomes
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and team members

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

  • GMC registered Doctor (not necessarily on the Specialist Register)
  • Relevant consultant-level experience or supporting references
  • Evidence of right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship)
  • Pass an enhanced DBS check
