Job Description:

We are looking for a Locum Consultant Rehabilitation Psychiatrist to join the rehabilitation inpatient and community teams in Bristol on a fixed term contract until March 2025.

This role has been created to develop services based on local needs and national guidance, focusing on providing enhanced local services for people with complex mental health difficulties.

The services in Bristol include Alder unit, a ten-bed open rehabilitation ward at Callington Road Hospital, and the Bristol Community Rehabilitation Service, based in St Pauls, working across the city.

This is an opportunity to work with two well-established services that serve individuals with complex long-term mental health conditions, following national standards and offering a multidisciplinary, recovery-oriented approach.

We welcome psychiatrists with diverse experiences to join our team of two existing consultants. We are active in training, research, and service development.

Main duties of the job
  • Work jointly with two existing consultants to provide full coverage for the rehabilitation services, including direct and indirect clinical care, supervision, consultative work, and leadership.
  • Deliver clinical interventions, including assessments and treatments for complex cases with barriers to engagement.
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership in patient care, including ward rounds, CPA, MHA, MCA, and working with families and carers.
  • Support the rehabilitation services to maintain a recovery focus, especially during transitions.
  • Lead the development of rehabilitation services in line with best practices and standards.
  • Participate in medical cover arrangements, including on-call duties.

We seek a skilled rehabilitation psychiatrist passionate about delivering excellent care and leading service development in a complex system.
