Job description

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Radiologist? We want you to be a part of our dedicated team at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust!

We are expanding to meet the rapid increase in demand for cross-sectional imaging and particularly to support the work of our cancer centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled, hard-working team. We will work together to build exciting, interesting, and sustainable roles around existing sub-specialty expertise, integrating into the appropriate MDTs.

Why Join Us?

  • Innovative Environment: Work at a leading modern general hospital and specialist tertiary cancer centre.
  • Supportive Team: Join a friendly and collaborative team of 25 Consultants, 5 Registrars, 83 Radiographers, 24 nursing and assistant staff, and 25 administrators.
  • Career Growth: Our Diagnostic Strategy aims to expand services and resources, supporting your career progression.

Exciting Investments:

  • MRI Suite: Featuring the latest patient experience environment with two Philips MRI scanners, 1.5T and 3T, equipped with Acquisition Acceleration Technology.
  • Interventional Suite: Redesigned with the latest Siemens IR unit.
  • Sectra PACS: As part of the Surrey and Sussex Consortium.
  • Milford Community Hospital: Expanded DR plain film and ultrasound facilities, with 2 Siemens MRI scanners (3T and 1.5T).

We are committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive recruitment process. If you would benefit from additional support—such as meeting the recruiting manager or visiting the interview environment in advance—please let us know when applying.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking candidates with previous experience in reporting cancer imaging and supporting oncology MDTs and research. This is a general radiology post; however, subspecialist interests would be welcomed and supported.

Main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a service in general radiology, particularly MRI and CT for cancer and potential cancer, in conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues.
  • Provision of radiological reports and investigations as required by the clinical director, including plain film reporting and general radiology.
  • Providing cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues during periods of leave, including MDT cover.

On-Call:

The current on-call commitment is a 1 in 15 general radiological on-call, which equates to 1 PA. There is an option for a home workstation to be set up for on-call reporting. Outside of hours (8 am-8 pm, Monday to Sunday), reporting support is provided by an outsourced company.
