Applications are invited for a 8.5 PAs locum consultant post in the neurosciences division. The post is a 6-month fixed term contract with the possibility of n extension by mutual consent. The role will form part of the Paediatric Neurology and Epilepsy consultant team based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.The posts will supplement the existing neurology and epilepsy teams in providing inpatient and outpatient, acute and general neurology and complex epilepsy/epilepsy surgery. Both are new posts to address the increased service demands.
We are one of the largest paediatric neurological centres in the UK, and provider several NHS England commissioned services including the children's epilepsy surgery service (CESS) jointly with King's Heath Partners. Regionally we are the principal provider of specialist child neurology services, both emergency and elective, for the North Thames region and the surrounding counties. The Specialty provides a national and international service for the management of rare and complex paediatric neurology conditions.
The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration and be on specialist register for Paediatrics (Paediatric Neurology) or be within 6 months by date of interview of acquiring a CCT in paediatrics (paediatric neurology) or be able to demonstrate equivalent specialist training in paediatric neurology.
The post holder will be based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust with work commitments in the Epilepsy and Neurology services. The main part of this post will support the complex epilepsy services, including the children's epilepsy surgery and neurocutaneous service. In addition, the postholder will contribute to the neurology ward consultation and acute inpatient, and outpatient, general neurology services. The post holder will also be expected to be involved in development and provision of the epilepsy/neurology outreach service program.
The post comprises 7.5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 1 PA for supporting professional activities (SPA). The post holder will, as a member of the Neurology consultant team, participate in the on-call duty (currently 1 in 13, 0.5 PA/week) and attending rotas for in-patient service, epilepsy attending, acute neurology and neurology consultation service as specified in the job plan below.
