A leading UK healthcare provider is seeking a Locum Consultant in Paediatric Hepatology based in Leeds. The role involves delivering specialized care to children with liver disease, participating in multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to research. Applicants must have completed relevant training in paediatric Hepatology and possess strong interpersonal skills. Locum Consultant in Paediatric Hepatology position based in Leeds for 6 months. The Paediatric Hepatology Department provides a comprehensive range of tertiary paediatric hepatology services including acute and chronic liver disease, portal hypertension and intrahepatic lesions. Outreach clinics are provided in partnership with colleagues across multiple sites. A multidisciplinary team supports the service including specialist nurses, transplant coordinators, dieticians, pharmacists, social workers, and allied health professionals. The department is a National Specialist Service with close ties to cardiology, nephrology, haematology/oncology and rheumatology for multisystem care, and sees ~300 new patients per year with ~20 transplants (including live donors). Future funding is in place to expand to five full-time consultants with an anticipated substantive post within 6 months.
The Paediatric Hepatology Department in Leeds is a National Specialist Service for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of children with acute and chronic liver disease, portal hypertension or intrahepatic lesions. The service has a close relationship with other specialties for joint management of multisystem disorders and performed ~20 transplants per year, with a growing number from live donors. Outpatient clinics include weekly transplant clinics and subspecialty clinics in metabolic liver disease, viral hepatitis and NAFLD. Inpatients are cared for in ward L50, Clarendon wing, LGI, with access to dedicated transplant theatre and PICU.
Leeds liver clinics take place in the paediatric outpatient suite in Martin Wing. The department operates across multiple sites with a dedicated transplant theatre and endoscopy/liver biopsy list each week.
