The NHS seeks an enthusiastic Locum Consultant for the Medical Retina and Uveitis team, responsible for managing complex ocular conditions and improving clinical pathways. Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Locum Consultant to join our Medical Retina and Uveitis team.
The appointee will cover Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre and Sandwell General Hospital during the on call. Although not necessary, applications are also welcome from candidates with FRCOphth (or equivalent) who are on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register or who will be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview.
Applicants should demonstrate their capability to be an independent cataract surgeon. A fellowship experience in Medical Retina and Uveitis will be desirable. The candidate should be able to manage complex ocular inflammatory conditions and have experience in systemic immunosuppression.
This post is for 1 x locum consultant post.
Main duties of the jobThe post will enable the successful applicant to develop new ways of working in medical retina, uveitis, virtual services and further development of extended teams with AHPs. The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintaining national maximum waiting times and developing clinical pathways in line with the maximum 18-week patient pathway guarantee. There is a commitment to General Ophthalmology on-call as part of this post.
