Locum Consultant in Microbiology – Essex

Position: Consultant in Microbiology

Location: Essex, UK

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (with a view to extend)

Duration: 11/07/2024 – 10/10/2024 (initially)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00

On-Call: As per rota

Start Date: 11/07/2024

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Microbiology to join our team in Essex. This full-time position is available from 11th July 2024 to 10th October 2024, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, with on-call responsibilities as per the rota.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert microbiological advice and support to clinical teams.
  • Manage the microbiology laboratory and ensure high standards of practice.
  • Conduct infection control and antimicrobial stewardship activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and support junior medical staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical and laboratory records.
Requirements:
  • Medical degree and full GMC registration.
  • CCT in Microbiology or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in microbiology at the consultant level.
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in microbiology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
