A leading healthcare institution in Leeds is seeking a Locum Consultant in Major Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. This is a 10 PA locum role available from November 2025 for 6 months, requiring substantial clinical experience in trauma management. The candidate will work with a dedicated team in a well-equipped environment, advancing trauma services and patient outcomes in a busy Major Trauma Centre.
In order to support the Trust's Major Trauma Centre in the Yorkshire and Humber region, we are looking to appoint a Locum Orthopaedic Major Trauma Consultant.
This is a 10 PA locum appointment, available from November 2025 for 6 months. The post will maintain our established team of Consultants within the Trauma & Orthopaedic department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are a leading healthcare institution, excelling in patient care, teaching, and research. The Trauma & Orthopaedic department is recognized nationally and internationally for research and maintains strong links with the University of Leeds.

The candidate must possess the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) or equivalent, have completed specialist training in T&O, and be on the specialist register or within six months of registration if currently in training within the UK.
The candidate should demonstrate substantial clinical experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics, particularly in managing major trauma. Excellent communication, teamwork, teaching, and service development skills are essential.
Leeds is a central hub for Yorkshire with excellent connections across the North of England. Our facilities are modern and well-equipped, with services dedicated to critically ill patients located together in the Jubilee Wing at Leeds General Infirmary. We are the first major multi-site hospital in the UK to adopt this integrated approach to patient care. The appointed candidate will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing focused care to patients with severe and multiple injuries at the Major Trauma Centre.

The CSU provides core services in Vascular Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Major Trauma, Paediatric Trauma, Plastic Surgery, and Paediatric Plastic Surgery.
Leeds General Infirmary's MTC, opened as a Level 1 trauma centre in 2013, serves nearly 3 million people regionally. It handles trauma calls, emergency admissions, and surgeries, with high-quality outcomes and recognition as one of the busiest centres in England.
The MTC operates within the West Yorkshire Major Trauma Network, ensuring timely access to appropriate care levels across the region, supported by recent investments to enhance facilities and staffing.
Our MTC is the second largest in the country and leads nationally in limb trauma management requiring plastic and orthopaedic surgery.
Junior medical staff include 16 Specialist Registrars (ST3-ST8), 5 Trust grade registrars, and others supporting the rota, with additional specialty orthopaedic posts.
