A regional healthcare provider is seeking a Consultant to join their critical care team in Blackpool. The role involves delivering patient care, supervising medical staff, and contributing to quality assurance and governance activities. Candidates must have a medical degree, GMC registration, and ideally hold higher qualifications such as FFICM or FRCA. This full-time position offers a salary between £105,504 and £139,882 per annum for a 12-month contract.
Blackpool Teaching Hospital has a purpose-built critical care unit with 16 single rooms and a team of 12 consultants, supported by 2 tiers of resident medical staff and a comprehensive allied health team. The unit includes a critical care follow-up service and an associated critical care outreach service, with a tradition of point of care ultrasound and opportunities for teaching across critical care, anaesthesia and medical trainees. There are extensive teaching activities for Foundation doctors, medical students and ACCPs, with an established teaching program supported by the Medical Education team.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary environment within a teaching hospital that hosts students from multiple universities and offers broad opportunities for postgraduate training and trainer development.
