Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join the department of General Paediatrics. We are offering 1 x 8.5 PA locum post to start as close as possible to beginning of July for 12 months from this date. This role will support the delivery of both inpatient and outpatient general paediatrics. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent in General Paediatrics or be listed on the GMC’s specialistregister via CESR route. An interest in Paediatric Epilepsy is desirable although not essential.

The BRHC is the paediatric major trauma centre for the South West region and is the only dedicated hospital for children in the South West of England. Bristol was voted best place to live in the UK in 2017 by the Sunday Times. It is a vibrant city with easy access to the countryside and coast of the Southwest of England and South Wales.

Main duties of the job

  • Full and specialist registration in either AIM or GIM with the General Medical Council (GMC) or
  • Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview *Locum candidates do not need specialist registration

  • RCPCH SPIN module in epilepsy or equivalent experience *Locum candidates do not need specialist registration
Experience
  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in general paediatrics, paediatric epilepsy and safeguarding
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
  • Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
  • Up to date knowledge and experience of of general paediatrics, paediatric epilepsy and safeguarding children and young people
  • Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
  • Skills in acute paediatric assessment and management, and delivery of outpatient general paediatric care
  • Broad range of IT skills
