Job Summary
This role is a new consultant post within the Emergency Department; the appointed candidate(s) will join an existing team of senior medical staff including Consultants & SAS doctors. On joining the department, you will become part of a well-established, friendly team and will help us continue to drive forward improvements in the service that we provide to our patients. This is a Locum Consultant post for 12 months.
As a senior member of the team, you will become a key part in the delivery of training and supervision to our junior colleagues.
We are a large District General Emergency department seeing a broad spectrum of patients and presentations. We have a collocated Urgent Treatment Centre for minor illness and injury management as well as an observation ward supported by 24 hour mental health liaison service. We have a large team of medical, nursing and allied health care professionals providing a high quality efficient service for our patients, allowing us to have flexibility in avoiding admissions where possible.
We have a strong collaborative relationship with Acute Medicine, working together to improve quality and flow for patient care at the front door.
The successful candidate will provide general clinical ED sessions and senior input into patient care, ensuring appropriate discharge and hospital admission, along with management and leadership.

Consultants are key members of the Division and are accountable and responsible for leading changes to service that will improve the patient experience.
