Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Community Paediatrics to provide clinical assessments, supervise specialists and contribute to the departmental child protection rota at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

The post is less-than-full-time (7.5 sessions per week) with a pro rata salary band £113,565–£150,569 and a closing date of 13/10/2026. Full GMC registration and MRCPCH or equivalent are required, with Specialist Register or CCT near to completion.

  • On the GMC’s Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of interview.

Responsibilities

  • Based in the Community Paediatrics Department at John Radcliffe Hospital; willing to work across Trust locations.

The appointment is on a less-than full time basis for 7.5 sessions a week

Main duties of the job

The postholder’s duties will be based in the Community Paediatrics Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations, throughout the county, and to attend meetings with Social Services Departments and other partner agencies.

Person specification
Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
  • On the GMC’s Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview
Experience
  • Is able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training in Community Child Health
Knowledge and skills
  • Willing to work unsupervised and make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively
  • Meets the requirements of the GMC’s ‘Good Medical Practice’
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit/QI project, understanding the role of these in improving the medical practice
  • Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, colleagues, managers, other agencies, and staff at all levels
