Job description

The Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Service Group are seeking to appoint an NHS Locum Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist who will work within the multidisciplinary community Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).


The Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Service Group provides a broad range of community and inpatient services to a wide population, and is responsible for providing Perinatal, Child & Adolescent, Adult, Older People, Rehabilitation, Substance Misuse, Forensic and Learning Disabilities Services.


Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a clinical team including consultant psychiatry colleagues, nurses, psychologists, therapists and a wider medical workforce to deliver SBU Community CAMHS as part of the CAMHS Directorate. The service provides CAMH services across Part 1 and Part 2 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure (2010), including Local Primary Mental Health Support Services, liaison services with schools and local authority services and a Crisis Team. The CAMH service in Swansea Bay works closely with Community Paediatrics and Adult Mental Health Services and with its Local Authority partners Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. CAMHS also link closely with the Early Intervention Psychosis team hosted by the Adult Mental Health Directorate (for ages 14 - 25) and the Neurodevelopmental Service hosted by Children's Services Directorate. Inpatient services are provided regionally at Ty Llidiard Adolescent Inpatient Unit in Bridgend.

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview and have passed exit exam or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register

  • Further relevant degree/diploma
