Qualifications

Job Description:

The Elderly Medicine department has seen significant investment from the Trust in the last 2 years, including a purpose-built frailty unit and expansion of the multidisciplinary team to provide the best care for our frail, older population. We seek a successful applicant to join us in further developing these services and introducing a passion for specialist care.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient services focused on the elderly population served by PAH, including a new cancer frailty clinic supporting colorectal cancer pathways
  • Lead and motivate the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered interventions and effective discharge planning
  • Maintain excellent relationships with team members, management, and external agencies such as community providers and CCGs, ensuring effective communication
  • Engage in service development to meet future challenges of an aging population
  • Drive innovations within the service area
  • Support colleagues in the department as needed

Person Specification

Training

  • Equivalent training and experience for UK CCT (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR issuance) in geriatric medicine
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register in geriatric medicine or eligibility for registration within 6 months of interview

Qualifications

  • MRCP
  • Valid ALS or equivalent

Clinical experience

  • Broad knowledge and experience in Geriatric Medicine and UK Acute Medicine and Ambulatory Care
  • Evidence of personal practice in areas described by the RCP curriculum
  • Experience in guideline appraisals
