Job summary

Locum Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology

The Trust seeks to appoint a Locum Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Medicine. The post is suitable for candidates wishing to work a maximum of 8 programmed activities (PA). This opportunity has arisen as a new post created to address capacity and quality challenges.

Applicants unable to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If appointed, the job content will be modified appropriately in consultation with colleagues and management.

Main duties of the job

The department is involved in multiple development areas, including:

  • An established Insulin Pump Service expanding its capacity.
  • A Young Person with Diabetes Pilot Service with new clinical pathways and expansion.
  • A Disordered Eating Service being launched with new funding.
  • A prestigious Multidisciplinary Medical and Vascular Foot Service, awarded a QIC Award, involving vascular, orthopaedic, diabetes, podiatry, and amputation nursing teams.
  • Specialist services for Cystic Fibrosis and Monogenic Diabetes.
  • The Endocrine department is nationally recognized, holding Paget's Association Centre of Excellence status, and is a regional specialist centre for calcium and metabolic bone disorders. It is also the tertiary referral centre for adrenal disorders, supported by an enthusiastic Endocrine nursing team.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to work with the existing team to support these progressive service areas.
