Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS team in Hemel Hempstead for a year. This position has arisen because the current consultant psychiatrist has taken on a clinical director role for the Provider collaborative and requires 6 PAs to backfill his clinical duties.

Hemel Hempstead is part of the West CAMHS team, which also includes the St Albans CAMHS team. The successful candidate will be based in the Hemel Hempstead Team.

This is a newly created post to address the growing demand on our service.

The successful candidate will join the existing 2 Consultant Psychiatrists in the St Albans clinic and will backfill for another consultant psychiatrist in the Hemel Hempstead clinic. The team also includes 2 higher trainees (ST4-6), 2 core psychiatry trainees, a GP trainee, 2 SAS doctors, and a multidisciplinary team comprising psychotherapists, psychologists, family therapists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists, and independent prescribers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies in health and social care as appropriate.
  • Assess young people's mental state, formulate diagnoses, advise on treatment, and monitor risks alongside the MDT.
  • Manage a psychiatric caseload, including assessments and reviews.
  • Undertake referral meetings and case reviews as required.
  • Provide clinical leadership and collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to enhance partnerships with other agencies, aiming for positive clinical and quality outcomes.
  • Participate in medical staff meetings within the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as necessary.
