A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Locum Consultant in both Cardiology and Acute Medicine. The role involves delivering high-quality acute medical interventions and managing emergency admissions. The ideal candidate will support teaching, continuous professional development, and patient care quality assurance. This position includes participation in a 1:7 on-call schedule and offers 10 Programmed Activities per week. Applications close on September 26, 2025.
This is a Locum Consultant position across both Cardiology and Acute Medicine for 10 Programmed Activities per week with an additional PA available subject to negotiation and will include participation in a 1:7 Cardiology hot week on-call. Typically, a consultant will spend 7.5 PA’s on Direct Clinical Care (this includes 1.5 PA’s on Supporting Professional Activities and 1 PA for admin). Plus 1.25 additional PA’s for weekend on call 1 in 7 and 1 PA for GIM on call as per the rota.
The trust and the Acute Care Team have a robust program for mentoring the new Consultant appointment including access to NHS Leadership programs and clinical courses. The Acute medical team work on a rotational basis covering Ward 29 – Short stay, AMU and Ambulatory care.
Acute - 5 PA out of 4 is DCC and 1 PA is SPA + Admin.
Cardiology - 5 PA out of 4 is DCC and 1 PA is SPA & Admin.
