Qualifications

  • GMC recognition as a clinical Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in teaching, counselling, audit, research, and management activities.
  • Provide clinical care in neuro-anaesthesia and neuro-critical care.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The Department of Neuroanaesthesia & Neuro Critical Care is an ACSA-accredited department with 17 consultants providing daytime cover for theatres, critical care, and neuroradiology.

The Walton Centre currently has 8 theatres within the theatre complex, of which 7 are fully operational (including a theatre with intraoperative MRI facilities), with a fully staffed & equipped Recovery. The theatres have a 24-hour resident Nursing & Operating Department Practitioner team. There are regular anaesthetic sessions for Interventional Neuroradiology & MRI.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be expected to participate in teaching, counselling, audit, research, and management activities within the hospital and to develop relevant special interests.

The post is advertised as 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with additional Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care available by mutual agreement. The clinical PAs will be divided between neuro-anaesthesia and neuro-critical care sessions, as mutually agreed.
