Job summary

Your World in Aylesbury is seeking a locum Biomedical Scientist (Band 6, Chemical Pathology) to cover the Stoke Mandeville/Wycombe sites. The role requires HCPC registration and provides a £27 per hour rate with cross-site duties across the two hospitals.

The position runs from 23/10/2026 to 30/11/2026, with an end date around 31/12/2026 and potential for rotation. You will work in Clinical Biochemistry, supporting tests across several subspecialties and may join the out-of-hours rota as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist.
• Strong knowledge in Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology.
• Experience in personnel management is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for Lead BMS during absences and assist with Haematology and Blood Transfusion management.
• Supervise daily operations in Routine Haematology.
• Oversee training and supervision of trainees and project work.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; ensure quality control.
• Review results, initiate investigations, and escalate findings to medical staff.
• Support staff development and quality management activities.
