Locum Band 7 ADHD Nurse – Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)
Location: Preston, LancashireContract Type: Locum – Part-Time - Mon-Fri (Can be flexible with hours, 18.75 per week)Hourly Rate: £30+Start Date: ASAPContract Length: 3 – 6 months (with potential to extend)
We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Band 7 ADHD Nurse who is a qualified Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join a specialist Neurodevelopmental Team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work with children and young people diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), supporting assessment, prescribing, titration, and ongoing medication reviews.You will be joining a highly supportive multidisciplinary team focused on delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct ADHD assessments and support the diagnostic processInitiate, titrate, and review ADHD medications in line with local and national guidelinesProvide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding ADHD and treatment optionsCollaborate with consultant psychiatrists, paediatricians, and allied professionalsMaintain accurate documentation in electronic health recordsParticipate in MDT meetings, service development, and clinical supervision
Essential RequirementsNMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse (RN Child)V300 Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (active and valid)Minimum 1 year’s experience in ADHD or neurodevelopmental servicesStrong clinical decision-making and prescribing skillsEnhanced DBS check (mandatory)Familiarity with NICE guidelines and ADHD care pathways
DesirableExperience using tools such as QbTest, SNAP-IV, or Conners scalesExperience working in CAMHS or community paediatricsConfidence in working independently and remotely (if applicable)
