Position Overview

Location: Blackpool
Contract: Locum – Full-time, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
Hourly Rate: £26+
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 – 6 months (with potential for extension)

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner to join a dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team on a locum basis. This role is open to qualified Mental Health Nurses (RMN) or Registered Social Workers with relevant CAMHS experience.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health care to children, young people, and their families, focusing on assessment, intervention, and care coordination within a multi-disciplinary setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments for children and adolescents.
  2. Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with service users and multi-agency teams.
  3. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions (CBT, DBT-informed, systemic, etc.).
  4. Act as a care coordinator for a defined caseload.
  5. Participate in regular clinical supervision and MDT meetings.
  6. Work collaboratively with schools, social care, and third-sector agencies.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with trust policy.
Requirements
  • Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing (NMC) or Social Work (SWE).
  • Minimum 1 year’s post-qualification experience in CAMHS or similar setting.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and care planning skills.
  • Able to manage risk and work effectively under pressure.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car (desirable).
  • Enhanced DBS check (required).
  • Ability to complete assessments independently and support young people.
  • Experience with risk management, discharge planning, safeguarding, and working with young people with various mental health presentations.
