Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Histopathology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Liverpool. This is an excellent role for someone looking to enhance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a high-demand department.

Key Responsibilities:

Embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and sectioning across a range of tissue types

Operate histopathology equipment (e.g., Leica or Thermo microtomes)

Ensure quality control and compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 standards

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory SOPs

Support junior staff and assist with training if required

HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist

Minimum of 1 year UK experience working in a Histopathology lab

Proficiency in microtomy (preferred block count: 30–40/hour)

Familiarity with quality assurance processes and UKAS standards

Previous NHS experience

Experience with digital pathology systems
