A legal team at a local authority is looking for a qualified Locum Adult Social Care Solicitor. This remote position requires strong experience in adult social care law and the ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision. The solicitor will represent the authority in various legal matters, provide timely advice, and contribute to the drafting of critical documentation.
Locum Adult Social Care Solicitor (Remote | Part-Time Considered)
Pay: £43.65 - £52.38 per hour (PAYE)
Contract: ASAP start – until 31st December 2025
Location: Predominantly remote (occasional office attendance may be required)
We are seeking an experienced Locum Adult Social Care Solicitor to join a well-regarded local authority legal team. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision and able to provide timely, practical legal advice across a wide range of Adult Social Care matters.
Key Responsibilities:Represent the authority in Court of Protection proceedings
Provide legal advice on:
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Ordinary residence disputes
Funding and charging disagreements
Duties under the Care Act 2014
Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act matters
Drafting and reviewing relevant legal documentation
Advising officers and stakeholders within the local authority on complex ASC issues
Qualified Solicitor (or Barrister/FILEX) with a current practising certificate
Strong experience in local authority adult social care law
Ability to work independently and handle urgent matters confidently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Part-time applicants are welcomed (ideally 4 days per week)
Remote working is the norm, with minimal in-office presence if needed
