Job Description:

If you are an experienced Technician, this is an ideal opportunity to join a rapidly expanding rail company based in Doncaster. They are currently seeking Locomotive Technicians on a permanent basis as the company continues to expand and grow within the industry.

As a Locomotive Technician, you will work on a varied shift pattern and will be offered a competitive salary plus other company benefits. Experience with heavy maintenance, such as HGV lorries or rail carriages, is required.

Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality production services (repair, overhaul, and modifications) in a safe and efficient manner. You will be responsible for the quality of your own work, as well as cleaning and tidying your work area.

These roles are open to individuals from ex-military, REME, engineering, or manufacturing backgrounds who are looking to start a career within the rail industry.

As a Locomotive Technician, your role will include various tasks such as:

  • Carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, and fault-finding activities as necessary
  • Acting as lead engineer for contracts, projects, or tasks to support operational performance or customer demand as directed by the line manager
  • Leading specific technical engineering issues as directed, providing guidance to other engineers
  • Inputting data into the locomotive history tracking system in a timely manner
  • Conducting in-process checks/audits in line with company quality standards
  • Undertaking risk assessments and implementing control measures in accordance with legislation and industry requirements

Competencies Required:

  • Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • BTEC National Certificate / ONC in Engineering or European equivalent
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Proven track record with Diesel engineering technology, systems, and controls

Shift Pattern:

  • Continental shift pattern with 10.5/11-hour shifts across days and nights
