Job summary

Avon and Somerset Police is seeking an enthusiastic Emergency Planning Coordinator to join the ASLRF team. You will coordinate multi-agency emergency planning, organise meetings, and provide strategic support during major incidents across the Avon and Somerset region.

You will advise partners on planning matters, ensure plans meet statutory duties, and promote resilience through public and business engagement. A hybrid working model with travel across the force area is available.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
• Strong self-management with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Proven ability to produce clear reports and analyse complex information.
• Experience in a multi-agency setting focused on resilience or engagement.
• Understanding of emergency planning including relevant legislation.
• Experience in project management, research and report writing.

• Ensure emergency plans are integrated, compliant with statutory duties, and aligned with strategic/tactical requirements.
• Advise the ASLRF Executive and Business Management Groups on planning and resilience issues.

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with local, regional, and national resilience partners.

Are you ready to play a key role in building community and organisational resilience across the Avon and Somerset area? We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Emergency Planning Coordinator to join the Avon and Somerset Local Resilience Forum (ASLRF) team. This is a unique opportunity to support and coordinate multi-agency emergency planning, training, and exercising, helping improve preparedness for major incidents across the region.

About The Role

Working closely with a wide range of partner organisations, you will:

• Support and coordinate the development and maintenance of multi-agency emergency response plans.
• Organise and facilitate meetings at all levels, bringing together agencies with different structures and approaches to foster collaboration.
• Provide tactical and strategic support during major incidents and help agencies implement lessons identified from incidents and exercises.
• Guide and advise partners on emergency planning matters, ensuring plans meet legal requirements and best practice.
• Promote public and business engagement in resilience-building initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

• Proven ability to produce clear, concise reports and analyse complex information.
• Demonstrated experience in a multi-agency setting, ideally with a focus on community resilience or engagement.
• A sound understanding of emergency planning, including the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
• Experience in project management, research, and report writing.

Additional Information

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, Police Headquarters, Portishead. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. This role offers ongoing development opportunities. Regular travel across the region will be required to attend meetings, training events and workshops. Applicants should therefore hold a full, current driving licence or be able to travel effectively throughout the force area using alternative means of transport.
