Job description

Local Government Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, East London
Pay rate to £35 per hour
Contract role, Local Government Planning

We are recruiting for an experiencedLocal Government Senior Planning Enforcement Officerin East London
  • You must have recent experience in managing a busy and varied caseload of different types of planning enforcement breaches and in dealing with multiple lines of enquiries under pressure.
  • Your knowledge of the planning system and the various types of legislation, regulations and policy guidance will be extensive. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload (100+) of alleged breaches with the role including investigations, site visits, assessing matters against law and regulations and making recommendations.
  • The role will also regularly require serving enforcement notices and evidence of notices personally served are welcomed with your application.
  • The role is also responsible for writing appeal statements and, where necessary, representing the Council at hearing, inquiry or in court. Assistance, advice and support will be regularly provided by the team leader, deputy team leader, members of the team and other planning managers and ongoing training, upskilling and gaining experience through new challenges is encouraged.
  • You should have experience in dealing with the public, Councillors and in responding to MP enquiries and complaints. You will also need to be highly organised, a quick learner and able to handle competing priorities.
This is a contract role, and you will need to have experience in a similar role.
