The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Band 6 Local Counter Fraud Specialist (LCFS) to develop governance frameworks minimizing fraud risk and conducting proactive risk-based activities. The successful candidate will work under a Band 7 LCFS, handling counter fraud operations to meet NHS standards. This role is integral to safeguarding public funds and ensuring compliance with legislation. The position is based in Bristol, offering a collaborative environment focused on reducing fraud risk in healthcare.
As part of the NHS, organisations are required to have counter fraud arrangements in place to provide added value through the use of counter fraud specialists. The purpose of this role is primarily to deliver counter fraud investigations and proactive work to a specified organisation.
Band 6 LCFS report to and are supervised by a specified Band 7 LCFS.
Expectations of the post holder fall into three categories:
Identify and mitigate fraud risks following the Government Counter Fraud Profession Fraud Risk Assessment Methodology. Escalate risks as needed and track mitigation progress. Act as "Officer in charge" of investigations into less complex allegations, complying with legislation including the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. Participate in working groups and provide project advice and support.

The LCFS role includes implementing an anti-fraud culture, supporting operational delivery, taking action against fraud, participating in proactive exercises, and working across client groups to meet NHSCFA standards and achieve successful outcomes.
