Job description
Overview

Local Authority Criminal Justice Housing Adviser, West London. Pay rate c. £28-30 per hour. Contract role, Local Government Housing.

Responsibilities
  • Provide housing advice and support to prevent and resolve homelessness among single homeless ex-offenders approaching the Housing Solutions Service following a custodial sentence.
  • Be the main point of contact between Probation Services and the Housing Solutions team.
  • Identify and assess support needs and refer to relevant supported accommodation pathway.
  • Identify ex-offenders as appropriate for referral into the AfEO scheme.
  • Develop and implement new processes in coordination with probation services and AfEO coordinator to ensure early intervention prior to prison release to prevent homelessness.
  • Assess, administer and make decisions on the outcome of individual homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) in accordance with legislation and case law.
Requirements
  • Experience in a similar Local Authority role.
