Job summary

QUINTESSENTIAL BRANDS UK GROUP LTD is recruiting a despatch operative at our Wolverhampton site who holds a counterbalance forklift certificate. The role involves loading and unloading goods, checking against delivery notes and ensuring yard safety.

The position is full-time with 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as needed. Benefits include 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, company pension and on-site parking.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a counterbalance forklift truck certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work off your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with loading of outgoing deliveries and check items against delivery notes.
  • Assist with offloading of incoming deliveries and check against delivery notes.
  • Move completed manufacturing work to holding areas in the manufacturing yard.
  • Check loads for completeness and report damaged items to supervisor.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report issues.
  • Keep the factory yard clean and tidy at all times.
  • Report health and safety issues to supervisor.
  • Additional duties as required by function.

Reports to
  • Transport & Distribution Manager
Outline Duties
  • Assist with all loading of outgoing deliveries on internal and external transport and ensure that the items are correctly checked in line with the outgoing delivery note.
  • Assist with all offloading of incoming deliveries and ensure that the items are correctly checked to the incoming delivery note.
  • Removal of all completed manufacturing work from the shop floor into the holding areas in the manufacturing yard.
  • Review and check all jobs prior to loading and unloading to ensure the load is complete and free from any defective products. Any damaged items should be identified to your supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure the daily inspection of the forklift trucks is complete using the daily check sheet. Any issues should be notified to your supervisor straight away.
  • Ensure that the factory yard is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties that are required by the function.
  • Identify and report any health and safety issues to your supervisor.
General
  • Flexibility and good time management are essential to ensure the despatch function operates efficiently on a daily basis.
  • All holidays must be carefully coordinated with your line manager to ensure suitable plans are implemented to maintain the continuity of the loading and despatch function.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines in an accurate manner in a fast-paced environment.

  • Employees must ensure that they take reasonable care of their own health and safety and the health and safety of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions; that they familiarize themselves with the health and safety arrangements that apply to themselves, their equipment and their work; that they co-operate with management to ensure that all statutory duties are complied with.
