Multimodal Solutions, part of DP World, is seeking a Load Safety Checker for a full-time, permanent position at our client site in Chester, Cheshire. You will monitor load safety and conduct trailer safety inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

The role requires a full, clean driving licence and strong organisational skills. Salary ranges from £27,000 to £28,000 per year, with benefits including holiday entitlement, pension, and optional health and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in road haulage, transport, logistics or distribution sectors.
• Confident communication with LGV/HGV drivers and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently with a safety-focused mindset.
• CCNSG Safety Passport preferred; knowledge of LGV procedures and trailer types helpful.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet incoming LGV drivers, conduct site inductions and safety briefings.
• Monitor and enforce load safety and load restraint standards throughout site operations.
• Carry out safety inspections of trailers prior to loading/unloading.
• Assist LGV drivers in preparing trailers for loading and ensure loads are correctly secured.
• Supervise and control haulier drivers on site, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
• Complete reports on non-conformances and safety issues; escalate concerns as needed.

• Multimodal Solutions is looking for a Load Safety Checker to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis at our customer site in Chester, Cheshire.

About the role: As a Load Safety Checker, you will play an important role in maintaining the safe and compliant movement of goods by monitoring and enforcing load safety and load restraint standards for visiting LGV road hauliers.

Working as part of a dedicated customer service and operations team, you will carry out trailer safety inspections, support drivers while on site, and help ensure consistently high standards of health and safety compliance.

Working hours for this role will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 6:30pm.

The role is site-based and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities:

• Meet and greet incoming LGV drivers, conducting site inductions and safety briefings
• Monitor and enforce customer load safety and load restraint standards throughout site operations
• Carryout safety inspections of trailers prior to loading and unloading activities
• Assist LGV drivers in preparing trailers for loading and ensure loads are correctly configured and secured before departure
• Supervise and control haulier drivers while on site, ensuring compliance with site safety procedures
• Complete reports relating to non-conformances and safety issues, escalating concerns where appropriate

About you: As a Load Safety Checker, you will have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements within the road haulage, transport, logistics or distribution sector.

You will be confident communicating with LGV/HGV drivers and colleagues, able to work independently, and committed to maintaining safe working practices and high compliance standards.

You will ideally hold a CCNSG Safety Passport and have knowledge of LGV driver procedures, different trailer types, and relevant HSE legislation.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and basic IT proficiency are essential.

A flexible, proactive and responsible approach is important, together with the ability to work outdoors and manage your workload with minimal supervision.

A full, clean driving licence is required.
