A leading healthcare partnership in Dorset is seeking a Lived Experience Practitioner to support Trauma Informed Approaches. The role involves using personal experiences to enhance mental health services, develop training, and promote recovery-oriented practices. This temporary position offers flexible hours and aims to value lived experiences equally with clinical expertise.
The Wellbeing and Recovery Partnership, a collaboration between Dorset HealthCare and Dorset Mental Health Forum, is excited to recruit for a new Lived Experience Practitioner role in Trauma Informed Approaches.
We seek an individual with experience using their Lived Experience in work or clinical settings, particularly relating to distress, 'personality disorder', complex emotional needs, or dissociative experiences. This role involves sharing and utilizing personal Lived Experience expertise throughout all work aspects.
The partnership aims to ensure that Lived Experience perspectives are valued equally alongside clinical expertise in designing and delivering Mental Health services in Dorset.
The successful candidate will be managed by our Lived Experience Leads in Trauma Informed Approaches.
This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave, available until 31 March 2026, with options for full-time or part-time hours.
The Practitioner will support the implementation of the WaRP strategy through Trauma Informed Approaches across DHC and the wider Dorset system, including communities.
Responsibilities include developing, delivering, and evaluating Trauma Informed Training focused on Trauma, Complex Trauma, and Safety, including staff training and collaboration with Dorset’s Recovery College, the REC. The role also involves providing supervision and reflection opportunities for trainers with Lived or Clinical Experience within DMHF and DHC.
They will work closely with Lived Experience Leads in TIA and WaRP colleagues to promote, develop, and embed lived experience, TIA principles, and recovery-oriented practices.
The role also contributes to challenging stigma and perceptions of individuals with experiences of complex trauma in Dorset.
