Job description

ATTENTION ALL TEEN WHISPERERS, SNACK PROVIDERS AND LIFE SKILL GURUS! DO YOU HAVE THE MAGICAL ABILITY TO TURN CHAOS INTO CALM, EYE ROLLS INTO HIGH FIVES AND "I CAN'T" TO "I DID IT!"? If the answer is YES! WE NEED YOU.

Our client, a semi-independent provider of accommodation and bespoke support services for 16- to 18-year-olds, is seeking a Live In Youth Support Worker to join their friendly team. They have homes in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, and Birmingham and currently offer a working pattern of 3 days on and 4 days off alternating with 4 days on and 3 days off, in a live-in arrangement for that period.

Why a Live-In Role?

This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to be part of a young person’s journey every step of the way. As a live-in support worker, you’ll benefit from:

  1. Stronger Relationships – Build deeper, more trusting connections through consistent, day-to-day interactions.
  2. Holistic Support – Support young people through all aspects of daily life—from school routines to late-night check-ins.
  3. Rent-Free Accommodation – Comfortable on-site housing is provided, reducing living costs and commuting stress.
  4. Skill Development – Gain hands-on experience in trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and youth mentoring.
  5. Stability for Young People – Your presence offers the consistency and security many teenagers have been missing.

The Youth Support Worker is expected to help the young people live independently and access local services available to them as well as provide practical support such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining good personal hygiene.

Qualifications and Experience
  1. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or above; or currently working towards.
  2. Any other healthcare-related qualification can be considered.
  3. Experience working with young people (formal or informal) would be swell but we can consider individuals with the right attitude and an infinite desire to learn.
  4. Good command of both written and spoken English, emotionally resilient and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  5. Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of teenagers.
  6. Flexible, empathetic, and ready to be a positive role model.

A detailed job description will be given to the shortlisted candidates and this post is on a full-time basis. The future team member should be able to take deliberate initiatives to develop appropriate relationships with the young people, some of whom may present with challenging behaviours, to understand their needs and feelings and respond to them accordingly. They should also be able to build positive relationships with external agencies and stakeholders including social services, education providers, YOTs, etc. They will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS screening if they do not currently hold one on the update service.

Working for and with this forward-thinking and contemporary company will look like:
  1. Competitive pay - depending on experience.
  2. Opportunity for career progression for the right candidate.
  3. Full management support.
  4. Fully confidential and independent Employee Assistance Helpline.
