Job description

Live-In Support Worker (Male & Female) - ABI & Learning Disabilities In Bradwell, Great Yarmouth.

Looking for a role where you can genuinely change someone's life?

At Active Care Group, we're looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Live-In Support Worker to support a friendly young man with an acquired brain injury and learning disabilities to live independently, enjoy the activities he loves, and achieve his goals.

This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with one person while enjoying an excellent work-life balance through our 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off live-in rota.

Meet the client

You'll be supporting a sociable and engaging young man who lives independently in his own home in Great Yarmouth.

He enjoys spending time in the community, visiting farms and zoos, playing Xbox, watching YouTube, getting involved in sports such as cricket and wheelchair football, bowling, arts and crafts, and spending time with family. He particularly enjoys outings with his grandad and trips to local attractions.

Following meningitis as a baby, he lives with an acquired brain injury, learning disabilities, hearing impairment and mobility challenges. With the right support, encouragement and guidance, he enjoys an active and fulfilling lifestyle.

About the Role

As a Live-In Support Worker, you'll stay in the client's home during your placement and provide person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing and community participation.

A major benefit of this placement is that the client attends school during weekdays, meaning there are regular periods of downtime throughout the day when direct support is not required, allowing for a healthy balance within the live-in arrangement.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing encouragement and verbal prompting with daily living tasks
  • Supporting access to community activities and social events
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Supporting communication and engagement
  • Ensuring safety, wellbeing and comfort
  • Encouraging participation in hobbies, sports and interests
  • Working closely with family members and the wider care team
We'd Love to Hear From You If You:
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and are a confident driver (essential)
  • Have experience supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Have experience working with acquired brain injury (desirable)
  • Have knowledge of Makaton (advantageous but not essential)
  • Are patient, reliable and proactive
  • Enjoy building positive relationships
  • Are passionate about helping people live independently and achieve their goals
What to look forward to
  • £127.50 per day
  • Fully paid travel to and from placements
  • Paid specialist training
  • Holiday pay 14.07% on every hour you work!
  • Regular consistent work every month
  • Ongoing support from a leading care provider
  • A NEST Personal Pension account
  • We recognise outstanding Active Behaviours via the Active Awards programme
  • Refer a Friend Scheme and earn yourself up to £1500 by recommending someone you know
  • ...and, of course, the support and guidance of our qualified clinical and business leadership teams so that you can really develop your career with Active Care in the Home

At Active Care Group we want everyone to feel welcome and supported. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment or interview process, just let us know and we’d be very happy to discuss this with you.
