Job description

Job Title: Live-In Gardener

Greycoat Lumleys is seeking an experienced Gardener for a long-term role in the Derbyshire Dales, starting October 2024. The position offers excellent 3-bedroom accommodation suitable for a small family, located in a rural village with a good local school and community.

Responsibilities include:

1. Hands-on gardening, including greenhouse propagation and fertiliser use.
2. Maintaining hedges such as Lonicera, Holly, and Yew with hedge-trimmers.
3. Tree work, including chainsaw use.
4. Growing vegetables and fruits.
5. Assisting with lawn care (note: lawn maintenance is also provided by staff).
6. Seasonal planning for garden maintenance and planting, with ideas shared with owners.
7. Use and maintenance of garden machinery.
8. Keeping greenhouse and garden sheds tidy.
9. Driving is essential; own vehicle required.

The garden features well-established borders, flower beds, a small walled garden, greenhouse, orchard, and extensive lawns. The client is interested in someone with good horticultural knowledge and qualifications, especially in parkland trees.

The accommodation is a fully renovated 3-bedroom cottage with a large garden and outbuildings, available from October 2024. Utilities are paid by the employee, with rent at a concessionary rate and council tax paid by the employer.
