Overview

My client is looking for an outstanding Litigation Solicitor to join the firm as head of department in Orpington. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Head of Department or a Litigation Solicitor looking to take the next step into leadership.

Responsibilities
  • As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in driving the future of the Litigation team. You will lead on complex cases, supervise and mentor colleagues, and contribute to the growth and strategy of the department. Working closely with partners and other heads of departments, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service and in developing new opportunities for growth.
  • Managing and supervising the day-to-day work of the Litigation department.
  • Leading on a varied caseload of civil litigation matters.
  • Providing strategic direction and supporting the expansion of the team.
  • Driving strong financial performance through effective billing and case management.
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships, including attending client meetings across the separate offices.
  • Contributing to marketing, networking, and business development initiatives.
About You

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded lawyer with a strong track record in civil litigation. You will ideally have experience managing or mentoring others, but equally this could be a step-up role for a motivated solicitor ready to move into leadership.

Your Qualifications
  • 3-5 years PQE+ within civil litigation.
  • A strong billing record and a focus on financial performance.
  • Leadership qualities - the ability to motivate, mentor, and guide colleagues.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in growing a department.
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
