Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Legal Credit Controller (Litigation) to join a well-established legal services firm. This is a fully onsite, permanent position offering the opportunity to take ownership of critical litigation matters relating to leasehold arrears recovery.

The role requires strong knowledge of County Court procedures, leasehold legislation, and debt recovery processes, along with excellent legal drafting and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor critical litigation dates and maintain internal legal case tracking systems.
  • Prepare and serve legal correspondence in line with Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Handle defended and undefended debt recovery cases, including default judgments, enforcement actions (e.g. bailiffs), and Land Registry registrations.
  • Draft witness statements and other legal documents for First Tier Tribunal (FTT) and County Court hearings.
  • Maintain accurate client records, update ledgers, and raise invoices as cases progress.
  • Provide regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders regarding litigation progress.
  • Support internal teams by attending meetings and ensuring legal records meet audit standards.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in legal credit control, debt recovery, or litigation (preferably within a leasehold or property context).
  • Strong understanding of County Court and FTT procedures.
  • Legal drafting skills and familiarity with leasehold management legislation.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage time-sensitive casework.
  • Strong communication skills for client and team liaison.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal policy frameworks.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Land Registry and Companies House platforms.
