Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is recruiting Learning Support Assistants for South West London to help students develop literacy and numeracy skills in an educational setting. You will work with teachers to provide tailored support, reinforce lesson objectives, and adapt activities to meet individual needs.

Ideal candidates have experience with SEND, strong communication, and a genuine passion for helping learners reach their academic potential.

Qualifications

• Experience providing one-to-one and small-group literacy and numeracy support.
• Knowledge of strategies to improve reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension.
• Experience delivering literacy and numeracy interventions to learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group learning support in literacy and numeracy.
• Support students with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and basic grammar.
• Assist learners with numeracy, including basic mathematics, calculations, number recognition, and problem-solving.
• Reinforce classroom learning and help students understand lesson objectives.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual student needs and abilities.
• Support students who may have additional learning needs, including SEND.
• Encourage student participation, engagement, independence, and confidence.
• Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Help identify learning difficulties and report concerns to the relevant teaching staff.
• Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure students receive effective learning support.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage good learning habits.
• Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar educational support role.
• Good understanding of literacy and numeracy.
• Confidence supporting students with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and mathematics.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional learning needs is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting learners.
• Ability to adapt learning approaches to suit different abilities and learning styles.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching and support team.
• A genuine passion for helping students achieve their educational potential.
