Job summary

The De Montfort School (TDMS) is seeking a committed Literacy Intervention Specialist to deliver targeted, evidence-based phonics interventions and develop reading confidence. You will work with the Literacy Intervention Lead and report to the literacy co-ordinator to close attainment gaps and foster a love of reading.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and committed Literacy Intervention Specialist to join our team. This role is central to our mission of supporting students to achieve their potential by delivering targeted, evidence-based phonics interventions, developing reading confidence, closing attainment gaps, and fostering a lifelong love of reading. You will work closely alongside our Literacy Intervention Lead and report to our whole school literacy co-ordinator.

Responsibilities

• Supporting learners in achieving their potential by ensuring they can read well and confidently.
• Delivering structured phonics-based intervention programmes, including Fresh Start, Lexia and Direct Instruction, to identified underachieving students.
• Leading on writing interventions and programmes, including handwriting.
• Working with students one-to-one and in small groups outside timetabled lessons.
• Building positive relationships with learners to enhance confidence and fulfil their potential.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the whole school library.
• Providing administrative support for the school's literacy intervention programmes, including record keeping and data entry.
• Running a range of daily extra-curricular clubs which supports students’ literacy.
