As part of their continued efforts to support students' literacy development, we are seeking an enthusiastic Literacy Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the team.

Here at Aspire People, we are currently looking for a knowledgeable and experienced English expert to support as a Literacy based HLTA. If you have a passion for literacy and helping students improve their reading, writing, and communication skills, we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to students' educational outcomes, particularly those who may require additional literacy support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of literacy interventions across Key Stage 3 and 4, working with students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate targeted literacy interventions to help students improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to provide in-class support to students who require additional literacy help
  • Support the development of students' literacy through tailored resources, activities, and strategies
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCO
  • Assist in the development of individual learning plans for students who require additional literacy support
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to develop confidence in their literacy abilities
  • Support students with exam preparation, helping them build the necessary skills for literacy-based assessments
The Ideal Candidate
  • A passion for literacy and helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • Experience working with Secondary-age or Primary-age pupils to improve literacy skills
  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent) or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of literacy development and how to support students at different levels
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting students' learning
  • Experience in planning and delivering intervention sessions (desirable)
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
