Job description

Mountainview High School is a state co-educational school of 500 students, located in Timaru, South Canterbury. Mountainview High School offers a supportive and inclusive environment where staff and students are encouraged to thrive in all areas.

Mountainview High School is seeking a passionate teacher to work alongside our literacy and numeracy co-ordinator to support the development and implementation of a Literacy and Numeracy acceleration programme, primarily targeting Y9–10 students. We have a warm whānau environment inside beautiful school grounds and well-resourced classrooms making Mountainview High School an ideal place to teach.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Sound understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum including NCEA
  • Knowledge of the CAA Literacy and Numeracy Corequisites
  • An ability to build positive relationships with ākonga and high expectations for every learner in their classroom
  • Strong classroom management practices
  • A willingness to embrace our whānau culture
  • Assessment of achievements against learner and programme goals
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Experience at programme evaluation and planning
  • High quality teaching delivery.

Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (STCA) as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, starting rate of $61,329 and top rate of $103,086. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.
