Linux System Administrator

Job Title: Linux System Administrator

Hybrid Working Available / No Sponsorship Available / Budget: £40,000 - £55,000

We’re looking for a Linux System Administrator to strengthen the ICT department and help manage the computer systems and software environments that our engineers use to build the microprocessors of the future.

Responsibilities:

1. Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and Windows Server/Windows 10 environments.
2. Monitor disk usage, backups, updates, and licensing.
3. Provide 1st & 2nd line support for users, including Linux graphics terminal users and Windows 10/Office users.
4. Perform local modifications to Active Directory, manage group policies, and administer user/machine accounts.
5. Develop shell and Python scripts for automation tasks.
6. Implement global security policies, including client VPN and multi-factor authentication.
7. Maintain Weekly/Daily backups using Backup Exec and manage hardware support contracts.

Required Qualifications:

1. 5+ years’ experience supporting and administering both Linux and Windows.
2. A relevant degree or extensive job-based training.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, fostering productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
4. A methodical and systematic approach to work and attention to detail.
