Role – Linux Integration Engineer

Location: On-site, 5 days per week, Hereford

Salary: £55,000 to £70,000 per annum

Clearance: Candidates must hold SC and be willing to undergo DV clearance

The Opportunity

We're partnering with a dynamic SME systems integrator working on high-impact projects in the national security and defence sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a Linux Integration Engineer to be at the heart of complex systems delivery, working alongside skilled engineers to shape and deliver innovative technical solutions.

With a growing footprint in the secure government domain, this organisation delivers cutting-edge solutions that combine modern software engineering with robust infrastructure expertise. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Hereford, offering a highly competitive salary between £55,000 and £70,000.

The Role

As a Linux Integration Engineer, you will be embedded within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, responsible for integrating systems and software in secure, performance-critical environments.

Your Core Duties Will Include

• Managing application integration across Linux systems
• Leading integration testing and ensuring alignment with performance specifications
• Liaising across security, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve integration challenges
• Supporting Agile backlog management and participating in continuous improvement initiatives
• Working across virtual machines, networks, and infrastructure components
• Troubleshooting system issues, enhancing compatibility between existing platforms
• Identifying areas for optimisation and contributing to solution design
  
  

You'll also be expected to stay current with emerging technologies, support internal collaboration, and contribute to a culture of high performance and continuous learning.

The Person

About

We're looking for someone who is passionate about system integration and thrives in technically complex, secure environments. You'll need to bring:

• Strong Linux systems integration and administration experience
• Hands-on knowledge of Docker, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of networking, virtualisation, and software deployment
• Experience working in Agile environments and managing technical backlogs
• A collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Eligibility for DV clearance (current SC clearance required as a minimum)
  
  

Bonus points if you have experience in cloud infrastructure, Windows OS, or working in defence, geospatial, or national security contexts.
