Searchability NS&D is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support Linux-based infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring security and resilience for business-critical services.

You will work with RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS; automate with Ansible/Puppet/Terraform; monitor performance; manage patching, backups, and DR; and provide 2nd/3rd line support.

Qualifications

• Extensive Linux administration experience (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Proficient in Bash and Python scripting for automation.
• Hands-on with Ansible, Puppet or Chef for config management.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and support Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
• Manage and optimise Linux servers across on-premises, virtual, and cloud platforms.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Puppet or Terraform.
• Monitor performance, capacity and availability of systems.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and OS-level issues; perform root cause analysis.
• Manage patching, updates, backups and disaster recovery.
• Implement security best practices including hardening, access control and vulnerability management.
• Support deployments, migrations and new software releases.
• Provide 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support.
• Maintain technical documentation and infrastructure standards.

Who are we?

Our client is looking for an experienced Linux Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in maintaining secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure supporting business-critical applications and services. You’ll work across infrastructure management, automation, monitoring, security and troubleshooting within a complex technical environment.

What will the Linux Infrastructure Engineer be doing?

You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting Linux-based infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments, while working closely with wider technical teams to support projects and improve infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, implementing and supporting Linux infrastructure across RHEL, Ubuntu and CentOS
• Managing and optimising Linux servers across physical, virtual and cloud platforms
• Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
• Monitoring system performance, capacity and availability
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and OS-level issues and conducting root cause analysis
• Managing patching, updates, backups and disaster recovery
• Implementing security best practices including system hardening, access control and vulnerability management
• Supporting deployments, migrations and new software releases
• Providing 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support

Key Skills and Requirements

• Strong experience with Linux system administration, particularly RHEL, Ubuntu or CentOS
• Proficiency with Bash and/or Python
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Puppet or Chef
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and firewalls
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Nagios, Prometheus or Splunk
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with VMware, KVM or Hyper-V
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Exposure to LDAP, DNS or identity management
• Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards
• Experience working in secure or regulated environments
