Job summary

Xoriant is seeking an experienced Linux infrastructure professional at Canary Wharf for a long‑term contract (Inside IR35). The role emphasizes end‑to‑end Linux lifecycle management, automation with Ansible, and enterprise virtualization with VMware and AWS.

You will lead performance tuning, security hardening, and disaster recovery planning across hybrid environments. Applicants should bring 10+ years of RHEL experience, strong scripting in Bash and Python, and proficiency with Red Hat

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Enterprise patching and lifecycle management (OS + third-party software).
  • Deep knowledge of Linux internals, kernel behavior, performance, and OS‑level troubleshooting.
  • OS upgrades, golden image creation, and large‑scale deployments.
  • Strong expertise with Red Hat Satellite for provisioning, patching, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and manage scalable Linux environments across VMware and AWS.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
  • Optimize system and application performance across OS, virtualization, and cloud layers.

Professional Summary

Expert in end-to-end Linux lifecycle management, including patching, OS upgrades, image creation, and large-scale deployments. Extensive experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, and enterprise tooling to automate infrastructure, reduce operational overhead, and improve system reliability.

Strong background in performance engineering, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and business continuity, with hands-on expertise in VMware and AWS architecture, including networking, storage, and compute optimization.

Proven ability to lead initiatives, troubleshoot complex cross-domain issues (OS, network, virtualization, cloud), and collaborate effectively with DevOps, Security, and Application teams.

Core Technical Expertise
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Deep knowledge of Linux internals, kernel behavior, system performance, and OS-level troubleshooting
  • Enterprise patching and lifecycle management (OS + third-party software)
  • OS upgrades, golden image creation, and large-scale deployments
  • Creation and management of VMware-based appliance images
  • Strong expertise with Red Hat Satellite for provisioning, patching, and compliance
  • Red Hat licensing across VMware and AWS environments
  • Hands-on experience with Veritas Cluster (on VMware and AWS)
Automation & DevOps
  • Advanced expertise in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) including:
  • Playbook development and optimization
  • Workflow automation and orchestration
  • Infrastructure-as-Code practices
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python
  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
Cloud & Virtualization
VMware
  • Deep understanding of:
  • CPU, memory, storage, and performance tuning
  • VLANs, networking, and virtual infrastructure design
  • Experience deploying and managing enterprise workloads on VMware
  • Familiarity with SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) integrations (plus)
AWS
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • VPCs, routing, and traffic flows
  • Network security and inspection firewalls
  • Performance tuning and cost-aware infrastructure design in AWS
  • Knowledge of fsx for netapp on AWS.
High Availability, Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Hands‑on experience with Veritas Cluster (on VMware and AWS)
  • Understanding of Veritas licensing models
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • High Availability (HA) architecture
  • Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies
  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP)
  • Backup and recovery expertise using Rubrik
  • Replication and recovery strategies across environments
  • Veritas SF (Storage Foundation), VVR with Veritas Cluster (VCS).
Proficiency with AI Linux Drivers, and Container Orchestration Solutions:
  • Docker
  • AWS EKS
  • Redhat Openshift,
  • AWS ROSA.
  • Solutions such as
  • IBM GCM
  • SandboxAQ Aqtive Guard:
  • Proficiency with CUDA and Nvidia drivers.
Monitoring, Security & Compliance
  • Monitoring and observability using Dynatrace
  • Strong expertise in Vulnerability Management and remediation
  • OS hardening, patch compliance, and security best practices
  • Working knowledge of penetration testing concepts and remediation workflows
  • Network troubleshooting directly from Linux systems (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, DHCP)
Networking
  • Strong understanding of:
  • TCP/IP stack and network performance tuning
  • DNS, DHCP, NFS, and enterprise networking services
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues from the OS level
Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Design & Management: Architect, deploy, and manage scalable Linux environments across VMware and AWS
  • Automation & Scripting: Build and maintain automation frameworks using Ansible, Bash, and Python

  • Mentorship: Guide to junior engineers and maintain high-quality technical documentation
  • License Management skills. Working with quotes, vendor proposals, RFPs, and working with Vendor Management team to license procure and audit license use. Quarterly and yearly license assessments.
Certifications (Typical / Preferred)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect / SysOps Administrator
  • Additional certifications in virtualization, security, or automation (preferred)
