Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking a Linen Porter to support the Linen service across our wards. The role involves delivering clean linen, stocking trolleys, using Hive and CARPS, and assisting with inductions on the buddy programme.

This part-time, permanent post offers pro-rata pay aligned with NHS terms and opportunities to develop within our large, diverse organisation at Oxford Road Campus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the appropriate amounts of clean linen to wards using the top up system.
• Assist new starter induction through the buddy programme.
• Respond to and complete tasks scheduled or ad hoc per policy within timeframes.
• Remove clinical and non-clinical waste and laundry from departments as required.
• Hang curtains on wards and departments as requested by the Supplies Coordinator or supervisors.
• Use the task management system (CARPS) to manage linen service activity.
• Input linen stock levels using hand held terminals.
• Complete linen quality checks per contractual requirements and report non-conformances.
• Carry out any other duties as deemed by the line manager.
• Work in environments with unpleasant odours and bodily fluids where applicable.
• Work in areas with terminally ill/dying or aggressive patients.
• Sort, count, record, and check in and out linen.
• Learn and use the Hive system with training provided.
• Clean and maintain storage, corridors, and public areas.
• Stock linen trolleys, cupboards, and guest service items.
• Support the Linen service over weekends to a high standard and be able to use Hive.
