Job summary

Cranswick Country Foods is seeking a Line Leader for our Preston site, in the Retail Production department. The role focuses on leading a packing area, directing a team and maintaining fast, safe production in a busy food facility.

You will monitor performance, drive improvements and support onboarding of new starters, with strong emphasis on hygiene and safety. We value teamwork, reliability and clear communication in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role: Factory / Warehouse Team Leader, Supervisor, or skilled Production Operative experience.
• Proven track record of leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good understanding of hygiene and safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage packing area and operatives within area of responsibility.
• Support attainment of production targets as directed by Supervisors and Managers.
• Minimise lost production time and ensure productive line operation.
• Conduct pre-operational checks including documents, equipment, hygiene and labour management.
• Monitor hourly performance vs targets and initiate actions to meet goals.
• Perform CCP checks and report non-conformances via proper processes.
• Support onboarding of new starters and contribute to succession in roles.
• Lead by example and collaborate with other departments to train and share knowledge.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for Line Leaders to be based in our Retail Production department at our Preston site, our primary Pork facility within the Hull and East Riding region. With significant ongoing investment and expansion, this presents an opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, forward-thinking site with plenty of scope to contribute and develop. This position will suit candidates with team leader experience within food factory/fast moving consumer goods environment. Main Duties Include (but not limited to):

• Effectively manage packing area and operatives within area of responsibility
• Support attainment of production targets as directed by the Supervisors and Managers, with the ability to motivate and develop to encourage maximum productivity
• Ensure that lost production time is kept to a minimum
• Pre-operational start up checks; including controlled documents, equipment check sheets, fabrication sheets, hygiene standards and line labour management
• Understand hourly performance vs target, identify issues and deliver actions to ensure that performance targets are achieved
• Conduct CCP checks relevant to the area being worked in and report any none-conformances through the proper processes
• Support onboarding of new starters to achieve succession in their role
• Acting as a product specific expert where appropriate, working with other departments and disciplines in a manner to share and train own knowledge
  Experience in a similar role: Factory / Warehouse Team Leader, Supervisor, skilled Production Operative experience
• Previous experience of fast moving consumer goods manufacturing (preferably food related)
• Proven track record of leading a team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment to meet daily targets
• Good understanding of good hygiene and safety
• Problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
