FSLA: Exempt

So, what does a Silvi Materials Plant Manager do?

You'll be an integral part of our Ready-Mix operations team:

  • Maintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of production from manufacturing to shipment.
  • Oversees efficient plant operations related to production and scheduling.
  • Manages the schedule and performance of production maintenance.
  • Ensures that the plant maintains proper stock inventories. (raw materials, machinery/vehicle parts, etc.)
  • Holds operation meetings that relate to overall plant goals to include: production efficiency, vehicle operations, staffing safety, environmental compliance and facility maintenance.
  • Talks to the operator, lead man, and supervisor prior to and during work operations.
  • Performs the concrete batching operation.
  • Assists with the efficient plant operations related to production and scheduling.
  • Assists with the schedule and performance of production maintenance.

Qualifications Required:

  • Experience managing a concrete plant highly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, asphalt, or related industry also preferred.
  • A college degree highly preferred, particularly in engineering, concrete industry management, mining, or related field.
  • A working knowledge of the programming functions of all current plant systems.
  • An understanding of all aspects of concrete production and the types of products produced.
  • An understanding of QC/QA for the ready mix concrete industry.
  • A working mechanical knowledge of all plant related equipment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment, production processes and maintenance programs.
  • A commitment to team concepts, ownership and a Type ‘A’ personality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Working computer skills.
  • May be required to use protective gear and to take other precautions.
  • Required to work long hours during peak season
  • Able to think analytically and on the spot when problems arise.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk and stand, sit, climb or crawl around and under machines or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and drive a vehicle.
  • Climbing includes the ability to work (at times) at heights in excess of 100 ft.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with WINDOWS (basic applications), Internet, basic computer skills
  • Working knowledge of plant maintenance procedures

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work extended hours as needed
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Requires Concrete chipping, shoveling, sweeping and greasing of plant equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and, on occasion, may visit industrial plant locations
  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and plant locations
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
