The Senior Lighting Technician will be a key member of the lighting department and the wider studio operations team reporting directly to the Lighting Manager. This role is based across Warner Bros. Discovery’s two sports production facilities in West London.

The facilities comprise of four green screen studios and three multifunctional spaces, you will operationally be responsible for the daily lighting requirements. Assuring resources are at hand to support the production's smooth set up and delivery.

You will follow the ‘safe’ provision and operation of lighting equipment from design to delivery, helping productions achieve their editorial aspirations within the studio.

Your Role Accountabilities

Deliver all works to the highest technical standards whilst following departmental/company procedures

You would be expected to cover all aspects/roles of studio lighting, including console operation, lighting technician (spark) on productions and other roles where required

Maintain the lighting systems at the two home base sites consisting of moving lights, conventional fixtures and Set LED

Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety policies during the rigging, de-rigging, and safe operation of all studio lighting equipment.

Assist the Lighting Manager in planning of any future operational requirements for upcoming productions

Conduct daily studio lighting operations checks and follow the appropriate health and safety documentation.

Work closely with the Design, Operations, Editorial and Engineering departments to assure the highest visual image standards are being met.

Closely collaborate with other departmental members and actively contribute to the overall creative and technical atmosphere of the team

Support freelancer lighting professionals and external suppliers to ensure that work complies with the prevailing safety standards and is carried out within the specifications.

Work effectively with the engineering support teams to ensure that any technical issues are resolved in a timely manner

Work on special ad-hoc events outside of the main studios

Deputise when required in the absence of the Lighting Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

Demonstrates technical knowledge in all areas of lighting, including ETC EOS programming and maintenance within television/green screen AR/VR studio

Ability to read and follow lighting / network schematics

Experience with working at height and safe rigging lighting fixtures

Excellent organisational skills, able to complete tasks quickly and efficiently

Self-motivated and enthusiastic able to work independently with minimum supervision

Ability to fault find lighting systems under pressure / create contingencies

Knowledge of Health and safety legislation and standards including Working at Height, Electricity at Work, Noise, Manual Handling of Work Equipment, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA), Risk Assessments, COSHH

Excellent computer skills, experience working with Vectorworks or similar

Experience with WYSIWYG / Black Trax an advantage but not essential

Ability to work flexible hours and weekend in line with sporting events is essential

  • Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
