Job summary

Scolmore Group is seeking a Product Design Engineer to lead design across lighting products and related ranges. You will drive concepts, develop robust documentation, and liaise with suppliers to ensure UK compliance and market readiness.

The role covers full lifecycle from concept through sampling, testing and handover, with travel to the Far East as required to support production and transfer activities.

Qualifications

• A degree in an engineering or science discipline or equivalent.
• Experience in product design or mechanical engineering.
• Sound understanding of basic physical principles.
• Knowledge of injection moulding and manufacturing.
• Creative, disciplined design approach with clear processes.
• Prototyping and testing in design development.
• Ability to communicate via 2D/3D media; Solidworks training offered.
• Credibility to work with other teams; independent working ability.
• Willingness to travel to the Far East for production.
• Electrical or power knowledge; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Apply problem‑solving to support new product concepts focused on lighting.
• Manage projects from concept to launch with documentation.
• Support design reviews with Product Design Manager/Technical Director.
• Collaborate with Far East teams to ensure high manufacturing standards.
• Maintain documentation for handover to UK or Far East.
• Communicate across technical teams for timely input.
